I am fairly sure that it is almost always better to finish your existing City than plant a new City. But this might still be at your existing City, in which case planting a new City would still be the wrong move. Then you'd need to evaluate where the best Expansion node(s) you can possibly get are. The one exception might be if you hold (and can play this turn) Robots or Train Station or similar card that grants Expansions. Additionally, for the existing CIty situation there is a high chance that you are placing your new Pop building adjacent to to a Pop Support booster like a Hospital you prepared earlier, making that move even more valuable most of the time than a new City. If you can develop that expansion this same turn it is even stronger. Placing a Pop building in an existing City gets you the same +1 Pop + Support but also +1 Expansion. Placing a new City gets you +1 Pop for HQ + Support. Placing Population into an existing City is almost always better than placing a new City. Take a look at the cards in your hand, at the map and at your space projects. To give an example lets say you can explore several locations, and you can get some happiness, some research, some titanium or some water. A simple rule is the rule of what can i do right now. Rover exploration stations and exploration satelites are very much worth their money. You should understand the priorities while exploring. How you explore is crucial to your success. Place farms only on rich soil (duh).Ĥ)Exploring smartly. Position your farms so that a farm boosting building will benefit the most. So build lots of farms and do it the smart way. You need food for population, and you need population for support. This is crucial, and sometimes it makes more sense to build a new city even if you hold a juicy building that will raise the population of your existing city (side note: robots are your friends: You can drop down a new city and throw some robot buildings and have instant access to new locations.ģ)Food is king. You don't need those entertainment buildings when you only have one choice of card and you can get something you can use right now, like an energy building early game.Ģ) Build many cities, don't try to develop your cities too much. So here goes.ġ) Don't try to stay in the positives in the support per turn. I haven't by any means finished it, but after some cursing at the RNG god i have found a few tips i wish someone had told me when i first started.
